Disney Princess High part 5, Belle.
The daughter of an eccentric inventor, Belle is a curious and inquisitive individual who is always in pursuit of knowledge. She always has her nose in a book and doesn't always pay attention to the goings-on around her. Due to her intelligence, Belle earned a scholarship at the Walt Disney Academy for Girls and spends much of her time studying hard to keep her place in the school. Despite her calm demeanour and relatively shy appearance, Belle has her sassy side. She stands up for what she believes in and has a bit of a temper. When she isn't reading or hanging out with her close friend Cinderella, Belle is constantly deflecting the unwanted affection of Gaston. Gaston, a hypermasculine brute from a neighbouring all-boys school, is pushy and insistent. Belle is also part of a small group of magically-imbued heroines who fight against the evil forces of Maleficent and her cabal of villains.
Design-wise, the obvious inspiration for Belle was the make-over she was given in the recent merchandising. In her magical girl gear, she has longer hair and appears more feminine. I decided to give her long boots (to match her gloves) and am quite pleased with how she came out. That gold dress of hers is so iconic and I really wanted to adapt it and have it look good. I hope I accomplished that task. In her schoolgirl appearance, Belle has shorter hair and appears more homely.
