Green Lantern - Arisia Redesign by Femmes-Fatales Green Lantern - Arisia Redesign by Femmes-Fatales
Having finished a series of redesigns for the Justice League and their nemeses the Injustice League, I decided to do up a few redesigns of some of the Green Lantern ladies I'd intend to utilize within the series. The third is Arisia.

Despite her bright and cheery persona, Arisia is a sensitive young female who became a Green Lantern due to tragic circumstances. The death of her father haunts Arisia and motivates her. She wishes to be as great a Lantern as her father but also obviously wants justice for his death. In this re-envisioned DC Universe, Arisia and Boodikka are partners. They are obvious opposites of one another. Where Arisia is soft-spoken, Boodikka is outspoken. Where Arisia is slender and petite, Boodikka is bodacious. In many respects, they are the odd couple. Of course, Arisia finds solace and comfort in her partnership with Boodikka especially since Boodikka has been essentially grooming her for the day when she may get to bring Sinestro to justice. Arisia likewise finds friendship among Hal Jordan and Katma Tui though there is some awkwardness around the latter. Katma reminds Arisia of Sinestro and a part of her finds herself unconsciously concerned that Katma may likewise betray the Corps due to her shared heritage with Sinestro to Korugar.

While my redesigns for Hal, Katma Tui and Boodikka were very much uniform with one another, it didn't seem right to put Arisia in a black outfit. As such, I really took my main inspiration from her iconic costume but obviously altered it to match the aesthetic of the other Green Lantern redesigns. I made sure the cleavage she's become known for within the past few years is tucked away and that her breasts aren't ridiculously enormous. Arisia looks the most unique when she's sprite-like as she gives off this impish image. As such, I also altered her height. In the comics, she's actually 5'9"!! Needless to say, I knocked off a few inches.

Remember, this is a redesign of an existing character so the information here is a speculative and creative non-canon re-imagining. If you'd like to see all the other DC Comics redesigns I've done thus far, you can check them out in my gallery.

Enjoy! :)

Arisia's my favorite female Green Lantern. I'm glad you didn't include that whole weird bit with her aging herself up so she could get with Hal. I think they may have retconned that from her backstory. If not, they should have. Arisia's design does a better job of incorporating white into the Green Lantern uniform color scheme than it did Hal's. It reflects her youthfulness and optimism. I also like the idea of Boodikka being her mentor.

Arisia isn't one of my personal favourites but I acknowledge the impact she had. For me, I had to think about what I could alter to make her likeable to me without sacrificing her core as a character. I think I found a sweet spot with her. I'm not sure whether I'd actually intend to get Hal and Arisia together as they did in the comics but it would be something to happen down the line when Arisia matures and once Hal can deal with his failings with Carol and Katma.

They did retcon it. According to Hal, Arisia was actually a couple hundred years old, I believe.
