Having finished a series of redesigns for the Justice League and their nemeses the Injustice League, I decided to do up a few redesigns of some of the Green Lantern ladies I'd intend to utilize within the series. The second is Boodikka.
Hailing from Bellatrix, Boodikka is an intergalactic Amazon who was one of the greatest warriors across the galaxies. For a time, she voyaged among the stars alongside her fellow tribeswomen but eventually gave up that nomadic lifestyle to become part of something greater -- the Green Lantern Corps. Though apparently arrogant and abrasive, Boodikka takes her duties very seriously as a Green Lantern and is dedicated to the Corps. Of all the Laterns I've encountered while reading comics, Boodikka was my personal favourite. Her backstory was unique and she was a survivor who overcame a lot... including being left for dead after her arm was chopped off while Hal Jordan was possessed by Parallax. Needless to say, I was disappointed when she became an Alpha Lantern. They took one of the only Lanterns I liked and turned her into, for lack of a better expression, an emotionless machine. Why couldn't they pick one of the cleavage queens (i.e. Arisia and Soranik Natu)?
In redesigning Boodikka, I took the most of my inspiration from her appearance in the fantastic animated feature "Green Lantern: First Flight." In the comics, Boodikka had the figure of a bodybuilder and hair that looked like it was borrowed from Jon Bon Jovi from the '80s. Still, Boodikka appears more muscular here than Katma Tui and Arisia who also appear in my gallery redesigned. I wanted Boodikka to look very beautiful and perhaps even almost exotic. I took my redesign I did for Hal and really adapted it to work for Boodikka. Overall, I'm very pleased with how she came out. She's one of the best looking redesigns in my series thus far.
Remember, all the other DC Comics redesigns can be found in my gallery.
