Justice League International redesigns, part 4 of 8.
Having asked you all pick your favourite reserve Justice League members from a selective list, Booster Gold landed in the middle. Out of 70 votes, he received 10.
While Booster Gold is famously a hero from the future, I wanted to do a Booster Gold who was more accessible. As such, I re-arranged his background so that he's very much a man of the present. He was once a promising athlete who was on the cusp of being drafted into the NFL until his illegal extra-curricular activities caught up to him. His gambling and excessive partying led to his expulsion. Feeling like his life was over, Michael agreed to take part in a government experiment figuring he had nothing to lose. He became the 'test pilot' for the Booster Gold suit and his athletic prowess proved to be useful while in the suit. Impressed by his test results, Amanda Waller assigned additional training for Michael until eventually drafting him onto her Justice League International team. As Booster Gold, Michael is often accused of show-boating and loves the attention he gets from the media. He also has a tendency to ignore orders which drives both Amanda Waller and team leader Captain Atom up the wall. Miraculously, Michael has made friends on the team. Other than Fire and Ice, Michael has forged an extremely close and unbreakable bond with Blue Beetle. The pair are inseparable.
When it came to designing something for Booster Gold, I really didn't know where to go. As such, I ended up winging it. I took partial inspiration from his Smallville look but other than that I really tried to do my own thing with it. I'm not super happy with it but I do like the star-and-stripes detail on the chestplate. It's kind of patriotic and hopeful looking. He also came out looking quite dashing which is never a bad thing.
Remember, all the other DC Comics redesigns can be found in my gallery... so check 'em out! Also, this is obviously a creative and speculative re-imagining of the character so nothing here is canon.
