I wanted to take a break from drawing all of Catwoman's costumes to draw some video game fanart. Yesterday, I drew Ivy and Morrigan while today I opted for some Street Fighter fanart. Here's Chun-Li for you all.
Chun-Li's always been one of my absolute favourite characters. She's someone I've grown up with and she's been such an innovative character I actually look up to. She wasn't someone's girlfriend but a serious Interpol agent whose mission was to bring down Shadaloo. Unlike Samus Aran, Chun-Li's gender wasn't masked nor was it exploited. She was a muscular woman whose style of dress was quite modest. Capcom certainly does give its women a little more respect than is usual with other video game companies. Although, not by much.
Drawing Chun-Li is always a difficult thing. She has a very specific appearance. Facially, her eyes are quite obviously Asian so it's often difficult to try and get them perfect. Her costume is quite detailed and takes a steady hand to get it all right. On top of that, posing is very key to Chun-Li. Since I didn't want to draw an action-oriented pose I just went with her stock peace-sign pose. I know, how unoriginal. Ah well.
