Titans redesigns, part 5 of 5.
I asked you all to pick your favourite of a list of Teen Titans and Wonder Girl (AKA Donna Troy) placed first. Out of 86 votes, Donna received 33 votes.
Donna Troy was orphaned as an infant when her parents were perished in a fiery inferno that consumed their apartment. Donna survived thanks to the divine intervention of the Titan Rhea. The Titans of Myth had saved several orphans across the galaxies and had gifted them each unique abilities. Named after the famed city of Troy, Donna trained alongside her fellow adopted brothers and sisters Sparta, Athyns, Xanthi, Corinthia and Argos. As part of her further education and training, Rhea sent Donna Troy to live amongst the Amazons of Themyscira where she was subsequently adopted by Queen Hippolyta. Donna became one of the fiercest and most compassionate Amazons whose thirst for the knowledge of Man's World surpassed that of her older sister's. When Diana was chosen to be Themyscira's ambassador to Man's World, Donna did all that was in her power to follow her sister which ultimately led to Donna becoming the heroine known as Wonder Girl. Alongside her friend Dick Grayson (AKA Robin), Donna formed the superheroic team known as the Titans, named after the very beings who gave Donna a new lease on life as an infant. Known for her empathy and selflessness, Donna acts as the 'den mother' for the Titans and is seen as everyone's best friend. She maintains a sibling-like relationship with Dick and is a constant shoulder to lean on for Wally (AKA Kid Flash). Donna enjoys a flirtation with Roy Harper (AKA Red Arrow) but often ignores the deeper feelings she has for him. Outside of the team, Donna tends to spend a great deal of time with her friends Barbara Gordon (AKA Batgirl) and Kara Zor-El (Supergirl). The three bond over their unique relationships with their mentors. Above all, Donna's most special relationship is the one she has with her older sister Diana. They share an unbreakable bond that is based on respect and admiration. When she's not kicking butt as Wonder Girl or hanging out with her best friends, Donna works hard as a fashion photographer.
I feel like I've redesigned Donna so many times. I have numerous drawings of redesigns for her in my gallery and so it's always hard to keep coming up with something new. What I wanted to do this time around was come up with something youthful and streamlined that had a more fashionable appeal while still appearing superheroic. I decided to go with a two-piece suit that is accented by silver accessories. Donna's never really worn boots like Diana so I wanted to try Diana's iconic boots on her. They look rather cool I think. She's also got her hair styled in a ponytail and I completed the look with a sword and shield. Truth be told, my approach to Diana and Donna was inspired by Sophitia and Cassandra from the SoulCalibur games. For comparison, you can check out Wonder Woman's redesign below.
Remember, the rest of the DC Comics redesigns I've done can be found in my gallery. Also, the information I have here is a speculative and creative re-imagining so it is all effectively non-canon.
