The most iconic and influential superheroine of all-time is Wonder Woman. Debuting in 1941, this feminist icon stood for truth, love and equality. She would capture the imaginations of many throughout the years with her unique star-spangled shorts and gold-plated bodice. To pay tribute to the ultimate superheroine, I will be documenting the many looks Princess Diana has worn over her long and illustrious career as Wonder Woman. So sit back and enjoy a trip through time. :D

January 1942-December 1949 - Wonder Woman proved so immensely popular in her Sensation Comics debut that she was given her own self-titled book. She was quickly given a new position as an assistant to one of Steve Trevor's peers and as such became a Lieutenant. Her earliest adventures during this period saw her participating in war-time assignments and often went up against Nazi supervillains. Her particular nemesis during this time was Baroness Paula. But as the war drew to a close, Wonder Woman's adventures continued as she fought crime at home in America but also abroad. She would fight everything from common thugs to mythological warriors. This period marked the debut of Diana's close-friend Etta Candy (who, as you can guess by her last name, had a nasty little obsession with eating too much chocolate). Etta would form a group called the Holliday Girls who acted as Wonder Woman's back-up group.

Shortly after her 1941 debut, Wonder Woman's costume almost instantly evolved. Her flowing culottes became tight star-spangled shorts. Her tiara shrunk and wrapped around her hair rather than around her forehead. She began to more permanently wear red earrings and her boots soon abandoned their white stripe in favour of a black seam down the center. Also, Wonder Woman's lasso of truth became her most important accessory. As everyone knows it compels people to tell the truth when they're tied in it. However, it's important to note that the costume varies A LOT during this period. I've just drawn the most commonly used variation.

Diana Prince luckily swapped her frumpy nurse's uniform for a more chic Lieutenant's uniform. Or at least that's what it was supposed to be. She wore a long navy blue blazer over an off-white skirt (to be honest, colouring is so shoddy during this time that it could be white, gray or blue). She continued to wear her awkward round glasses and left her hair tied up in a tidy bun.

The Lieutenant uniform looks much better than the nurse one! Professional but still pretty.
