This is a surprise gift for :iconseanwiccan18:

I've been drawing a series of X-Men pin-ups and Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat wasn't on my list since she's not a character I like all that much. However, since she's his favourite female X-Man I drew her especially for him. :P Hope you like it!

While I can see Kitty's appeal (especially her intelligence), there are areas of her character that I find hard to get past. I'm not particularly fond of her on-off relationship with Colossus and she can be a little hard to stomach sometimes on the personality level. Of course, I think her lack of point-and-shoot powers and overall lack of a diva persona drops her low on my scale of favourites. Still, I will concede that she's a fascinating character who has a lot of merit.

In drawing Kitty, I decided to do a redesign. I took her black and gold look and threw in a bunch of different things. The collar, the sleevelessness, the knee-high boots, the padding on the hips, the Xs on the shoulders ... I really like the way it came out. I also tried to make her look like Lea Michele from Glee (not endorsing Glee... just think that Lea Michele looks like Kitty).

OMG! You are like THE best friend EVER!! You have no idea how happy this has made me, and yes I know Ive said that about 10 times to you already, but I just had to say it again.

The art is just as wondeful as ever. This costume you put her in is just plain beautiful. I love how you redesigned her and made it look so much better then anything Ive ever seen her in, in the comics. Now Im gonna name off everything I love about this piece XD I love how you made the boots knee high. I love the belt and side ribbing on her hips. I love the shoulder X's and just the whole thing all together. You made her look very pretty as well. I just...thank you so much for doing this. I know on my Sam comment I said that he was my favorite youve done so far, well Kitty has just surpassed him. This series is just getting better and better and I cant wait to see what else you have up your sleeve.

I'm so glad that you like this piece as much as you do. I know how much you love Kitty and she really was not going to show up at all in this series. However, I did it because you've been such a great friend. :)

I'm glad that you like the design I went with for her. Obviously it's pretty much a redesign and it seems the aspects that you like are in fact the "new" elements to Kitty's look. But hm... Kitty's surpassed Sam, huh? Now I'm not sure anyone will be able to surpass Kitty. Bobby's still going to be in the series so we'll see if he can top Kitty O_o Okay, that came out wrong. Would have been better if I had said "we'll see if he can top Sam." ;)

Ever since I saw X-Men Evolution, Kitty has always been one of my favorite members. But her costume in that series was so bland. This one, however, is perfect for her! I love the X insignia on the shoulders, like what I did with my redesign of Beast, the thigh high boots look great, the colors work well (love blue and gold), the belt is greatly detailed, the gloves just make her look even cuter, and the armor on each side of her legs looks great in her. Of course, you do that will almost all your women, but it still looks great. Overall, this is obe of your best redesigns yet. Fav'ed!
