X-Men - Storm Pt 6, The New Storm by Femmes-Fatales X-Men - Storm Pt 6, The New Storm by Femmes-Fatales
Continued from part 5...

Upon learning that her mentor Achmed El Gibar was dying, Storm flew back to Cairo to be with him during his final moments. However, she quickly learned that one of the mutants he had been taking care, Jamil, of had come under the influence of the immortal known as Candra. Though Storm fought hard to defeat Candra, Jamil opted to stay with Candra.

A depleted Storm returned to America where she learned that the Morlocks had not in fact perished as she once believed. They had been transported to an alternate dimension where time had passed at great intervals. A new faction had come arisen known as the Gene Nation and they were hell-bent on murdering the humans they felt betrayed them. Led by the mutant known as Marrow, the Gene Nation came up against Storm and her X-Men. Marrow had planted a bomb on her heart and intended to blow up herself and a group of human hostages but before she could Storm ripped out her heart to prevent her from doing so. This left Storm shaken and appalled by her decision. She vowed to no longer make such reactionary choices and took a new outlook on life, one of preventative actions. She adopted a new look and reclaimed her spot as leader of the Morlocks. She brought them to a small village in Africa where she taught them humility and helped to rebuild the village to bring it to prosperity.

A short while later, Storm was faced with Candra yet again. The psychotic immortal vowed to destroy Storm and attempted to do so through clever manipulations and illusions. Their battle raged on but it was Cyclops who came to Storm's assistance. He destroyed a mystical gem that empowered Candra subsequently causing her to cease to exist.

TBC in part 7...

This is probably my favorite Storm costume. It looks like the classic one, but less "lingerie". Nice work drawing it.

I was personally quite surprised to see how popular this look ended up being. It's very obscure, but people really responded to it.

Thanks. This has actually surprisingly proven to be the most popular costume of hers in this series of drawings I did.

I'm at least vaguely familiar with most of Storm's costumes and their eras, but I don't think this is one I've seen before. It's certainly an interesting look for her and fairly different, and has interesting takes on her familiar cape and bracelets. And once again you've captured the details of the costume well.

Since Storm wore this costume only a short while, it's been one of her most forgotten costumes. It's not as drastic (and therefore memorable) as her punk look and it doesn't cater to the beauty ideals (i.e. long hair) as her others do but it's a pretty cool look nonetheless. For those collecting X-Men toys in the '90s, they'd remember this as it was made into action figure form. It was one of the best Storm figures ToyBiz made actually.
