Disney's Princesses of Light - Tinker Bell

Description

Part six of my Disney's Princesses of Light concept.

I owe this piece to Chalaya who has been doing features on the ladies of Disney. She was going to do a journal featuring Tinker Bell and she was gracious enough to allow me time to draw this so it could be included. So here she is! Unlike the other pieces I've done in this project, Tinker Bell isn't one of the Princesses of Light. Rather, she is an ally and friend to the group. Continue reading below to find out what her purpose and story is in this concept.

With the Queens of Darkness taking hold of western Europe, it's clear that the fate of the world rests in the hands of the rebellion led by Princess Aurora and her fellow royal warriors. Fearing that the Queens could set their sights on Pixie Hollow next, Queen Clarion sends Tinker Bell off to the Enchanted Forest to aid Aurora and her allies. Using her inventive skills and technological know-how, Tink becomes their resident blacksmith and is responsible for forging and repairing all of their enchanted weaponry.

Somewhat hot-tempered and certainly impulsive, Tink finds herself stifled by the presence of the Fairy Godmother, as well as Flora, Fauna and Merryweather. She resents that they have a more impressive rank within the camp and is often bothered by how her skills are often overlooked due to her fellow fairies having more showy magical gifts. Tink has found a kinship amongst the playful Palace Pets, who are the mystical familiars to the warrior princesses. When she's not tinkering away at her latest gadget, she's frequently off on scouting missions with the Pets.

In creating a look for Tinker Bell, I obviously didn't stray too far from her iconic green dress. Hell, she's still wearing it! What I opted to do was to give her some different accessories to emphasize her role as the blacksmith to the Princesses of Light. This meant giving her an apron, a pair of gloves, a couple of mallets/hammers and a snazzy pair of thigh-hi boots. She was actually quite fun to draw and is probably one of the characters I've been able to capture best.

As always, I love hearing from you guys so please feel free to leave your comments below letting me know what you think of the artwork and of the concept itself.

Enjoy! :)
