Description
I've been itching to draw more of Nubia, so this was an illustration featuring my version of her as she appears in my DC Universe head canon.
My take on Nubia depicts her as the magical child of Queen Hippolyta and General Phillippus. She is the second in line to the throne of Themyscira and is one of the Amazons' foremost scientists. When her older sister Diana left the island to fight for truth and justice in Man's World as Wonder Woman, Nubia was among the Amazons sent with her as part of her ambassadorial envoy. Like Diana, Nubia took up arms and became a superheroine. She is equipped with the powerful daggers of Sekhmet, the shield of Hathor, and the healing lasso of Isis, all gifts from her mother Phillippus. Nubia also possesses the "Stone Sight," the magical ability to turn others to stone, which she inherited after a battle with the Gorgon sisters.
While Diana is emotional and leads with her heart, Nubia is purely logical. She has a scientific mind and must analyze situations before acting. Though she is patient, she has a no-nonsense attitude that makes her far more critical than her sister.
Design-wise, Nubia more or less identical to how I'd drawn her for my Wonder Woman: The Animated Series concept (seen here: fav.me/dbbki1i).
